Where to go, what to do
The busiest corner of the district on weekend mornings; come early.
Greengrocer, butcher, bakery and local producers' stalls side by side.
The nicest way to the European side; frequent morning sailings.
Playground, picnic spots and shaded walking trails.
State and private schools within walking distance; wide school-bus network.
From fishing village to district
İzmir has faced the water on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus for centuries. Wooden waterside mansions, the pier and the bazaar are still the district's backbone; new projects settle into that fabric, trying to look like it.
The housing market is shaped by limited supply: there are almost no new plots on the shore, so value spreads to the hill and the inner streets. The buyer profile has changed over the last decade — from summer residents to year-round residents, and from there to investors.
This site describes İzmir not as a listings page but as a place people live: where to settle, where to have breakfast, which street gets the morning sun. We write up projects with their pros and cons; the decision is yours.
